Michael has been teaching at Algonquin College for three years. Michael received a degree in Technical Communication from Iowa State University. However, in the field of Web Development and Design, he is mostly self-taught.

Michael enrolled in Iowa State University as a Computer Engineer, and switched majors a few times before graduating. He was working on a Masters in Accounting when he received his first Web Development job. Michael worked in the field for 10 years, before he began teaching at Algonquin.

Server Side Web Development introduces students to the PHP scripting language, databases and SQL, and the Laravel Framework. Students learn how to create dynamic sites and RESTful APIs. Students who graduate from the IMD program will have been shown the skills they will need to pursue an array of careers including photographer, web designer, UX designer, graphic designer, and video production artist.
