Project Management MTM6361 Professor: Adam Jarvis
Students learn industry standards and best practices while exploring the full life cycle of the theory of project management. A systematic approach to project planning including scope, risk assessment, documentation, budgeting and intellectual property rights are studied and applied. Teams acquire effective communication, collaboration and time management skills through planning and budgeting. Professional presentation skills are practiced both individually and as a group.
Students were assessed based on Group Projects (35%), Individual Assignments (20%), Three exams (25%) and In-class exercises (20%).
The first group project was an in-class exercise which consisted of selecting a website, creating three personas and user testing. The second group project involved branding a company, collaborating a presentation (outside of class time) and presenting as a team.
Individual assignments consisted of an overview of user experience elements, user interface design basics and SEO. Students created a personal branding logo and a unique selling point to be used in the creation of a business card read for print.
In-class exercises involved group discussions and participation, information architecture activities and a branding exercise.
